Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to counselling, what you'd like to explore, and how I can support you. There's no pressure to go into anything deeply personal straight away—this is your space, and we'll go at your pace.

2. How many sessions will I need?

There's no set number. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer-term support. We'll review regularly and make sure the therapy continues to meet your needs. You're free to stop at any time.

3. Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, sessions are confidential. There are a few legal exceptions—for example, if there's a serious risk of harm to yourself or someone else—but I will always explain this clearly if it ever applies.

4. What issues do you work with?

I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, grief, self-esteem, trauma, abuse, family breakdown, and emotional overwhelm. You don't need to have a diagnosis or a "big" problem—if something is affecting you, it's important.

5. What if I've never had counselling before?

That's completely okay. Many people feel nervous at first. I'm here to offer a calm, supportive space where you can explore whatever's on your mind, without judgement. We'll go step by step.

Sessions are offered either online or in person (Neath). A limited number of evening and weekend sessions are available.
